Accessing Your Web Space With FrontPage
The address for your website will appear in
the following format, replacing "name" with
the website-ID that you selected for your
website during the activation process:
http://web.newsguy.com/name
Member websites are accessible through a
variety of Web Development, Web Editing, and
FTP software applications. This includes
full support for Microsoft FrontPage, and
the following tips provide instructions for
accessing your website with FrontPage
 |
Choose the "File / Open Web..."
command. When the dialog box
appears, enter "http://web.newsguy.com/name"
into the "Web address" field, and
click the "Open" button. The "name"
portion should be the ID you've
selected for your web space.
|
 |
When prompted by FrontPage, enter
your NewsGuy Username and Password
to access your site. These are the
same Username/Password IDs that you
use to access other areas of the
NewsGuy service, such as the Usenet
newsgroups.
|
 |
Once connected FrontPage will list
your web address as the main folder
under the "Folder List" column, and
should see your home page (home.htm)
file included in the list. If this
is the first time accessing your web
site the home.htm would be the
default homepage that was added when
your web site was created. Simply
overwrite that file with your own
home.htm file. You can create
whatever additional webpages and
subdirectories that want to store
your web pages and graphics.
|
 |
If you wish to work on your web
pages off-line, then upload your
changes, you can do that also. First
create the web pages locally on your
PC, then use the Publish command to
upload those to your web site. Use
your full web site address in the
address field, when prompted by
FrontPage for the location you want
to publish to.
|
 |
Sites provide 50 MB of space, and
fully support MySQL and PHP.
|
 |
As a system guideline and bandwidth
issue, please do not use this web
space for adult-oriented binaries or
as a means for archiving
software/binaries.
|
 |
If you would be interested in
including a counter within your
site, please refer to the Counter
Information page. The actual counter
file can be found within your user
page directory and is created upon
setting up access. It is stored as a
.dat file and is defaulted to your
user page name. FrontPage also
offers a counter feature which you
can use as well. |
