Accessing Your Web Space With FTP
The address for your website will appear in
the following format, replacing "name" with
the website-ID that you selected for your
website during the activation process:
http://web.newsguy.com/name
Member websites are accessible through a
variety of Web Development, Web Editing, and
FTP software applications. This includes
full support for Microsoft FrontPage, and
the following tips provide instructions for
accessing your website via FTP:
 |
Within your FTP application, set the
"Host Name/Address" to
"web.newsguy.com"
|
 |
Input your Newsguy Username and
Password IDs. These are the same IDs
that you use to access other areas
of the NewsGuy service, such as the
Usenet newsgroups.
|
 |
Goto the "public_html" directory,
which should be the only one listed
at this time. Upload the file here,
calling it "home.htm". Once
uploaded, the server will retrieve
automatically, and post your home
page. Once posted, you can create
whatever subdirectories necessary
under the main public_html
directory. The remaining pages that
are uploaded should follow steps #1
& #2, and will be automatically
posted in much the same way as the
home page.
|
 |
Sites provide 50 MB of space, and
fully support MySQL and PHP.
|
 |
As a system guideline and bandwidth
issue, please do not use this web
space for adult-oriented binaries or
as a means for archiving
software/binaries.

 |
If you would be interested in
including a counter within your
site, please refer to the Counter
Information page. The actual counter
file can be found within your user
page directory and is created upon
setting up access. It is stored as a
.dat file and is defaulted to your
user page name. |
